Follow Oliver, a tram worker in the late 19th century Bessbrook. The Bessbrook to Newry Tramway was a pinnacle of travel in the 19th century and a . bessbrook to newry greenway “Bessbrook and Newry Greenway” A former tramway from Bessbrook down the hill and under the Craigmore Viaduct, carrying today’s Belfast to Dublin train, into Newry City.
The Bessbrook and Newry tramway opened in and in the Bessbrook Spinning Company took over the tram line. The line which was over three miles long, ran through the woods and the viaduct. Bessbrook, , was the starting point of an electric tramway which ran for just over three miles between the mill town of Bessbrook to Newry.
